Welcome to lorebound. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the lorebound platform and services ("Service") operated by lorebound LLC ("we", "us", or "our").

By accessing or using lorebound, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Service.

1. Description of Service

lorebound is an AI-assisted novel writing platform that helps authors track story continuity, manage characters and world-building elements, and generate draft content. The Service includes:

Story and chapter management tools
Entity and state tracking for characters, locations, and items
AI-powered writing assistance and draft generation
Lore and knowledge management systems
Export functionality for publishing formats

2. Account Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must register for an account. You agree to:

Provide accurate and complete registration information
Maintain the security of your account credentials
Promptly update any changes to your information
Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Service.

3. Subscription and Payment

lorebound offers paid subscription plans. By subscribing, you agree to:

Pay all applicable fees for your chosen plan
Provide valid payment information
Accept automatic renewal unless you cancel before the renewal date

We may offer free trials or credits. Trial terms will be disclosed at signup. We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days notice to existing subscribers.

4. Your Content

Ownership: You retain all rights to the stories, characters, and creative content you create using lorebound ("Your Content"). We claim no ownership over Your Content.

License to Us: By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service to you. This license terminates when you delete Your Content or close your account.

Responsibility: You are solely responsible for Your Content. You represent that you have all necessary rights to Your Content and that it does not violate any laws or third-party rights.

5. AI-Generated Content

The Service uses artificial intelligence to assist with writing. Regarding AI-generated content:

AI suggestions are tools to assist your creative process, not final content
You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving all AI-generated text before use
AI output may occasionally be inaccurate, inconsistent, or require revision
You own the rights to AI-generated content created through your use of the Service, subject to our underlying technology rights

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Infringe on intellectual property rights of others
Generate content that sexualizes minors in any way
Harass, abuse, or harm others
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
Interfere with or disrupt the Service
Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
Use automated systems to access the Service beyond normal use

7. Adult Content

lorebound permits the creation of adult fiction, including explicit romantic and sexual content, subject to the following conditions:

Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to create or access adult content
Fictional Characters Only: All characters depicted in sexual situations must be fictional adults (18+)
No Minors: Content that sexualizes minors is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account termination
Legal Compliance: All content must comply with applicable laws in your jurisdiction
Consensual Scenarios: While fiction may explore complex themes, content that promotes or glorifies real-world sexual violence is prohibited

We support authors writing romance across all heat levels, from fade-to-black to explicit. You are responsible for ensuring your published works comply with the content policies of your chosen distribution platforms.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, features, and documentation (excluding Your Content), is owned by lorebound LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the Service.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your specific requirements. AI-generated content is not guaranteed to be accurate, original, or suitable for any particular purpose.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOREBOUND LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless lorebound LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason with notice. You may cancel your account at any time. Upon termination:

Your right to use the Service ceases immediately
We may delete Your Content after a reasonable retention period
Provisions that should survive termination will remain in effect

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New York.
